2024 National Health Research Institutes Forum x National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University International Symposium on Telemedicine

The future of telemedicine is a crucial topic in contemporary medical education and the cultivation of interdisciplinary talent. It holds significant development potential and demand in the medical field. Innovations in telecommunication diagnosis tools and strategies not only enhance the quality of medical care and clinical decision-making, but they also challenge current frameworks of medical education and talent cultivation, particularly in terms of legal, ethical, data protection, and privacy policies at home and abroad. Through comprehensive planning, the goal is to maximize the sustainable health benefits for humanity, ultimately improving overall health and well-being.

The 2024 National Health Research Institutes Forum on “The Future of Telemedicine: Medical Education” aims to address key topics such as “Innovative Talent Development: Interdisciplinary Collaboration,” “Innovative Tool Applications: Future Development,” “Legal and Policy Dimensions,” and “Opportunities and Challenges for Medical Education in the New Era.” The forum hopes to bring Taiwan’s telemedicine education and interdisciplinary talent cultivation to new heights and expand its global reach.

This seminar brings together top experts and scholars from around the world to explore the future of telemedicine and its impact on modern medical education. In the “Innovative Talent Development: Interdisciplinary Collaboration” session, we invite President Chi-Hung Lin from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, President Tsai-Yen Li from National Chengchi University, Professor Kirsten Ostherr from Rice University, and Director Tien-Yao Tsai from Fu Jen Catholic University Telemedicine Center to discuss the development of medical education in interdisciplinary talent cultivation for telemedicine.

In the “Innovative Tool Applications: Future Development” session, Dr. Chih-Chieh Yang and Dr. Ying-Ying Yang from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Dr. Yi-Che Wu, former Director of Mackay Medical College, and Dr. Dai-Long Cha from the National Health Research Institutes will share their insights on the current and future applications of telemedicine in various medical fields. Their presentations will provide valuable topics for medical educators and students alike.

In the “Legal and Policy Dimensions” session, Professor Barry Solaiman from Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar, Director Yueh-Ping Liu from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and Dean Huei-Min Ma from the National Taiwan University Hospital Yunlin Branch will provide legal and ethical perspectives on telemedicine, focusing on telemedicine policies, AI-assisted healthcare, and new ethical considerations.
