The 13th National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Hospital International Symposium, “Post COVID-19 Era: Epidemic Control Strategies and Digital Transformations” was hosted this year in Yilang. The symposium invited the deputy minister Pi-Sheng Wang, deputy director general Jen-Hsiang Chuang, Dean of the UIUC Carle College of Medicine Mark Cohen, as well as several domestic and international experts and scholars to participate in this event. This symposium attracted 150 in-person and 8000 online attendees.
Since the year 2009, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Hospital has hosted annual international symposiums discussing important health care issues. Due to the outburst and the tremendous impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic since November of 2019, in addition to pandemic control, the issues of post-pandemic disease management strategies and digital transformations have become compelling topics of discussions. Hence, the symposium was designed to focus on these two major issues and help decision makers and the public prepare for the future.
This symposium aims to discuss the prospective development of Taiwan’s medical care system in the context and trend of rapid digital transformation. Topics discussed included the blueprint and possibilities of future hospitals in the United States and Taiwan, strengthening of international and Taiwan health systems in the post-epidemic era, the progress and prospects of domestic vaccines, and multi-faceted issues such as new models and optimal strategies for clinical case management. Experts and scholars shared and discussed their experiences in order to build and strengthen the resilience of Taiwan’s health care system.
