On December 13, 2024, the completion ceremony for the teaching space of the School of Chinese Medicine at the College of Medicine (NYCU), was a great success. It was an honor to have Vice President Tzu-Hao Cheng deliver the opening remarks on behalf of President Chi-Hung Lin. Dean Shuu-Jiun Wang expressed gratitude to the National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine, Ministry of Health and Welfare, for providing the space, as well as to President Samuel Yin and his team from Ruentex for their significant assistance in renovating the teaching area. Dean Wang expressed hope for future collaboration among the five schools and six departments in Taiwan to advance the field of Chinese medicine.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by many distinguished guests, including Academician Jaung-Geng Lin, Director Ran-Chou Chen, Chief Yi-Chang Su, Dean Da-Cheng Qu, Deputy Director Cheng-Hua Li, Dean Shinn-Jang Huang, and Supervisor Yen-Ying Kung from the Taipei Veterans General Hospital’s Department of Traditional Medicine. Representatives from various Chinese medicine-related organizations were also present to offer their congratulations. Additionally, Chairman Chung-Yao Yin, representing President Yin, delivered a speech and participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, contributing to a lively atmosphere. Supervisor Fang-Pey Chen of the School of Chinese Medicine concluded the event by thanking everyone for their presence.
In the afternoon, the School of Chinese Medicine and the Institute of Traditional Medicine held a symposium on evidence-based Chinese medicine, featuring prominent scholars such as Vice President Tsong-Long Hwang from Chang Gung University of Science and Technology, Professor Ching-Chiung Wang from Taipei Medical University, Professor Lee-Yan Sheen from National Taiwan University, and Dr. Ching-Mao Chang from the Taipei Veterans General Hospital’s Department of Traditional Medicine, who delivered insightful lectures. During the symposium, the establishment of the Center for Research on Chinese Herbal Glycomics at the College of Medicine, NYCU, was officially announced. This initiative aims for NYCU to become a leader in fundamental and clinical research in traditional Chinese medicine, positioning Taiwan as a global benchmark in the field.
