NYCU is launching Back-to-School Safety project with alumni donating free rapid test kits for teachers/students

As school is about to start, NYCU will be launching “Back-to-School Safety” project in each campus by next week to proceed with free Covid-19 rapid screening. This project will be providing home rapid test kits for self-check. Also, school will set up local screening booth allowing medical personnel to perform rapid screening.

Dormitory management committee (Yangming campus) has decided that all boarding students are required to present a valid health certificate for moving into the dormitories. Apart from vaccination or 3 days prior proof of negative PCR result, this “Back-to-School Safety” project provides boarding students an extra screening channel saving students from self-pay screening outside of school.

The organizer, Dean of Academic Affairs Muh-Hwa Yang indicates that implementing “”health certificates”” for dormitories by setting up screening booth with medical personnel available to serve students on dormitory moving day provides a convenient screening channel to avoid extra burden on students. Yang said, although “Back-to-School Safety” project is voluntary, he encourages teachers/students to make best use of this resource. Many of NYCU teachers or alumni are already qualified doctors and are willing to assist.

This project is supported by Hao Yo Tech Co. Ltd., Hanmin Tech and Antaimmu BioMed Co Ltd., Youngtek Electronics Corp, Mr. David Lin, Hukui Biotechnology Corporation and nearly 200 alumni whom have been donating these screening kits. Except for health screening in school, home rapid test kits will be available for pick up orders.

Dean Muh-Hwa Yang said, everyone should be responsible for their own health considering the emerging infectious disease. NYCU not only hope to create a healthy and safe school environment, but hope to fulfill social responsibility to stop possible chain of infection. He’s calling for those who have already had vaccination should still be aware of personal hygiene. Those without vaccination should not have misconception on vaccine brand to expose oneself under the risk of infection. Community immunity will allow Taiwan to resume normal lifestyle.

Considering the prevention resources are limited, NYCU will continue to use information system to match those willing for health screening to make best use of this project.
